My background lies in radiology, working as a radiology technician, practice supervisor, quality officer, and radiology manager. After my career in radiology, I studied Health Policy & Management at Erasmus University. During that time, I worked at the central quality department of the hospital. After graduating in 1999, I joined Kerteza. From 2017 to 2020, I worked in Aruba, where I performed similar tasks and filled interim positions such as Cluster Manager, Quality Manager, and strategic advisor to the Board of Directors. Upon my return, I resumed my work at Kerteza.

The drive to help people has shaped my studies and career. After completing a university degree in pharmacy, I pursued a doctoral research project. Following this, I completed the training for Clinical Chemistry.
The process of improving (quality) procedures, management guidance, and organizations to enhance patient care has particularly fascinated me. I fulfilled this through my role as a Lead Auditor for Medical Laboratories.
Soon, I realized that institutions are actually much more aided by the implementation and improvement of (healthcare) systems rather than post-assessments. After starting a family, I moved to a peripheral hospital where a merger was taking place between the pathology laboratory and the labs of two other hospitals. Within this collaboration, I built up the quality system (back then according to CCKL) with the help and support of a consultant from Kerteza. Over the following years, this system was expanded and subsequently transitioned to ISO 15189.
