Patrick Corstiaans

Managing Director

Answering organizations’ questions and supporting them in strategy implementation. As CEO, I provide Kerteza employees with the opportunity and facilities to successfully carry out these assignments for our clients.

After studying biochemistry, I started working in a laboratory where I became a supervisor. At the same time, I pursued a business organization course. As a quality officer in another laboratory, I coordinated the accreditation process in late 1992.

In 1994, I founded Kerteza to guide organizations towards accreditation. Soon, the scope of our work expanded to include not only laboratories but also hospitals, nursing homes, residential care facilities, and healthcare-related suppliers. As organizational issues are prevalent across various sectors, Kerteza has since broadened its scope to other industries such as government, services, and manufacturing.

This is who I am:

* Inspirational: creating an environment in which others can effectively carry out their assignments.
* Entrepreneur: fulfilling assignments for organizations throughout Europe with a growing number of employees.
* Networker: knowing the right people and connecting them, enabling us to deliver the best performance to our clients.

Implementing change within an organization is often a challenging task. Why? Because employees become ‘change weary’ when too many things change at once. However, when the usual solutions no longer work or are insufficient, change is truly necessary. The answers that need to be found are neither obvious nor straightforward. Nevertheless, well-founded solutions exist for many of these problems. The problem is that these solutions do not get implemented in a conclusive manner in practice, and moreover, they are not structurally embedded throughout all levels of an organization!

It is precisely these issues that greatly appeal to me. I worked as a nurse in an academic hospital for ten years, in various roles. That practical experience was invaluable as it familiarized me with the healthcare sector and its interests. What followed was a logical step for me: education in health informatics, healthcare logistics, and change management.

Over time, I have accumulated extensive and diverse experience as a program manager for quality and patient safety, as well as process optimization in various hospitals. I would like to use this knowledge and experience to help achieve your organizational objectives together, always driven by the motto #buildingtogether.

My approach is characterized by a structured, well-founded, and pragmatic tailor-made methodology. An approach driven by genuine improvement in the quality, efficiency, and productivity of healthcare for the benefit of the patient.

A specific assignment? Or one that is still in the exploratory phase? I find both intriguing. Because the same principle applies in each case: connecting quality requirements, IT applications, and change management.

This is who I am:

* Focused on good collaboration, goal-oriented, and pragmatic.
* Skilled in communicating at various levels, tactful, and with a sense of humor.
* Analytical, determined, and resilient to stress.
* Working with proven solutions but also daring to think and act outside the box.

Bliss Dielis

Staff Officer Management

After ten years of experience as a self-employed entrepreneur in the hospitality industry, I took a new step in my career as an executive assistant for business operations at Kerteza. As an entrepreneur, handling the company’s administration was my favorite task, which is why I gladly took on this new challenge in September 2016.

I support the management team in managing their schedules and other secretarial tasks, being their support and confidante.

Additionally, I am involved in various aspects of internal business operations on a daily basis, such as developing project proposals and managing their schedules.

Within Kerteza, I have a central role; I am the so-called ‘hub’ or ‘linchpin’.

This is who I am:

* Personable and approachable towards colleagues and clients
* Ethical, with a sense of proportion
* Results-oriented, in a broad sense
* Independent and capable of making quick decisions

Mieke Borremans

Mieke Borremans

Senior Advisor - Manager HR

Speaking is silver, listening is gold. That is my motto. Why? Because as a consultant, you can only provide good advice when you understand the question, have insight into the organization, and have a sense of the people involved in the project.

The essential ingredient for a successful project? Employees who clearly know what to expect and which steps to take.

Achieving success as a consultant means taking the time to listen carefully and giving everyone the recognition they deserve.

My studies in psychology provided a solid foundation for this, and I further honed my skills as a general director in the healthcare sector and as the finance, administration, and personnel director of the Faculty of Arts at KU Leuven.

In 2016, I embarked on a new path and transitioned into an independent consultant in the healthcare sector. My journey intersected with Kerteza in April 2017. Here, my focus lies on projects related to quality management and accreditation, policy support and strategic initiatives, and HR change processes.

This is who I am:

* Pillar of support: I contribute to policy development and ensure its support. Additionally, I guide and support the employees. Good staff should be retained.
* Planner: I strive to optimize processes, establish structures, and develop a vision.
* Change manager: I see change as an opportunity for growth; it is not a dirty word.
* Attentive listener: Only by actively listening can you truly help someone move forward.

Are you running an organization? Then you know that quality management systems require a significant amount of time. However, the added value of such a system is often limited: it may work, but the quality remains subpar.

With over thirty years of experience, I have learned at least one thing: if we truly want to improve quality, we need to focus more on the professionalism of the employees. How engaged are they? Are their tasks clear and achievable? A climate of trust, with sufficient room for improvement and learning, is essential in this regard.

I gained my experience in two diverse sectors: healthcare and education. Over the past seven years, I built a quality management system for a medium-sized educational organization. Previously, I conducted audits for the Accreditation Council. As a quality officer and head of quality in laboratories, I was involved in establishing the medical microbiology department. This broad experience has made me intimately familiar with the dynamics and culture of large organizations.

This is who I am:

* Results- and quality-oriented: I efficiently reconcile the requirements of standards or frameworks with the daily practices within an organization.
* Team player: I always keep the common interest in mind. A team that is on the same wavelength works together smoothly.
* Curious and eager to learn: If there is a new development that benefits the organization or its employees, I want to be the first to know!

I obtained my Master’s degree in Applied Economic Sciences from the University of Antwerp in 2018. I then started working as a Project and Portfolio Management consultant, with a focus on software implementation in this field.

After a while, I realized that my passion was not in IT but rather in analyzing processes where this software could be used, and especially in guiding people through the transition brought about by the new software. This led me to Kerteza, a company where I can combine these two passions.

This is who I am:

* Empathetic and social
* Critical and detail-oriented
* Enthusiastic and spontaneous.

I started as a medical analyst in clinical chemistry and hematology, including blood group serology and blood bank knowledge. After working for several years as a routine analyst, I delved into quality management. First, as a quality officer in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory (formerly CCKL), then as a quality and safety advisor across the entire hospital (ISO 9001, NEN 8009, NEN 15224, HKZ, NIAZ), and I was involved in the transition from CCKL to ISO 15189 in the Clinical Pathology, Medical Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry laboratories. Later, I worked as a quality advisor in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine at a University Medical Center. Additionally, since 2011, I have been an Auditor/Subject Matter Expert for the Pre-analytical system at the Accreditation Council.

During my role as a quality and safety advisor, I obtained my HBO Bachelor’s degree in Management, specializing in Change Management. The HBO Bachelor’s degree has provided me with further insight into continuously improving the quality management system. Implementing changes within the quality system requires facilitating, supporting, and coaching changes, as well as the involvement and cooperation of employees.

I enjoy building and improving quality management systems while involving, motivating, and encouraging employees.

Motto: There are no problems, only challenges and, above all, opportunities.

An organization that functions well should not be a paper mill. That is my motto. When I develop a quality management system, it should provide tangible added value. Both for the customer or patient, as well as for the employees and stakeholders. This means avoiding duplication of work or unnecessary tasks.

My career has led me down various paths. In the past, I worked as a physiotherapist, manager of a dialysis department, sector manager, and lead auditor. In the latter role, I conducted audits in hospitals, independent treatment centers, and home care organizations.

Thanks to this diverse background, I have gained extensive experience in operational, tactical, and strategic aspects. I enjoy sharing this expertise with others. That’s why I joined Kerteza as a consultant and trainer in 2017. My responsibilities primarily involve quality, safety, and risk management, process optimization, and improvement projects.

This is who I am:

* Driven: If you have a question, I enthusiastically search for the most practical solution.
* People-oriented: I thrive on sharing my knowledge and inspiring employees. Together, we work towards ensuring consistent healthcare quality for the customer.

The drive to help people has shaped my studies and career. After completing a university degree in pharmacy, I pursued a doctoral research project. Following this, I completed the training for Clinical Chemistry.

The process of improving (quality) procedures, management guidance, and organizations to enhance patient care has particularly fascinated me. I fulfilled this through my role as a Lead Auditor for Medical Laboratories.

Soon, I realized that institutions are actually much more aided by the implementation and improvement of (healthcare) systems rather than post-assessments. At Kerteza, I have now found the challenge of mapping the combination of utilized methodologies, procedures, management guidance, and the complexity involved, with the individuals responsible. Moreover, I efficiently implement points for improvement in this regard.

The overall goal is to not only improve (patient) care but also elevate the quality of care to a higher level.

This is who I am:

* Practical knowledge: (assessments) of healthcare systems, experience on the (hospital) floor, personnel management, and patient care.
* Creative and results-oriented: working together towards the end result with an out-of-the-box mindset.
* Strong communicator: with analysts, managers, directors, and even Board of Directors.
* Personal: trustworthy and sincere, direct with a no-nonsense mentality, resilient to stress, a pillar of support, and with a sense of humor.

I have a creative and enthusiastic personality, and I enjoy working on challenging projects that require my perseverance and improvisational skills. Turning a quality system into a practical tool that works for you motivates me to come up with new solutions.

After completing my studies in Biology and Medical Laboratory Research, I started working in scientific research, where I developed into someone who not only focused on research but also enjoyed guiding and coaching PhD candidates at UMCG. I then became a team leader in a supportive laboratory for scientific research at AMC. After starting a family, I moved to a peripheral hospital where a merger was taking place between the pathology laboratory and the labs of two other hospitals. Within this collaboration, I built up the quality system (back then according to CCKL) with the help and support of a consultant from Kerteza. Over the following years, this system was expanded and subsequently transitioned to ISO 15189.

In 2022, I joined Kerteza and primarily work on supportive projects within the quality management of medical laboratories.

This is who I am:

* Enthusiastic team player: together, we make the work manageable, and with the right people, we can achieve much more.
* Determined with a creative approach: I find multiple solutions to one problem; there is always an appropriate way. I am particularly drawn to finding and developing solutions for challenging problems.
* Results and solution-oriented: translating standards into an easily executable workflow through a systematic and meticulous approach.

Change is an integral part of a healthy company. The world is constantly evolving, and as a business, you need to respond to it, or else the world will surpass you. However, in many companies, the word “change” creates resistance among the staff. The usual statement is: “We’ve always done things this way.” I hope to support businesses through Kerteza and ensure that they can adapt to societal developments.

My enthusiasm for change stems from my work at a large pandemic laboratory. This laboratory was always in motion and embraced change. After my education and scientific career, I found myself in this environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this organization, I held various roles and responsibilities, ranging from assisting with diagnostics on the ground to being the subject-matter lead for the tests within the laboratory.

This is who I am:

* Analytical
* Pragmatic
* Empathetic and personal
* Team player

The mission of Kerteza aligns completely with my personal mission: to improve our healthcare by expertly advising and guiding organizations towards quality care. Efficiency creates more time for care, benefiting all. I firmly believe that pursuing change on both operational and human levels leads to real, widely embraced transformation.

In 2011, I earned my pharmacy degree out of a concern for people’s well-being. After specializing as an industrial pharmacist and starting in Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance, I returned to community pharmacy, drawn by the social aspect and the opportunity to contribute to society.

Recently, I worked as a policy officer at the Flemish Pharmacy Network, connecting with healthcare stakeholders. This ignited my interest in contributing to Kerteza’s mission. I enjoy advising and guiding organizations, much like a pharmacist does with patients. I set high standards, aiming for results that everyone feels good about.

As a generalist, I continue to learn, including in coaching, innovation, and change management. I’ve obtained certification as a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner.

This is who I am:

* Flexible
* Goal-oriented
* Analytical
* Extensive experience across various themes and projects
